James Newman became Police Officer for the Village of Scarsdale in January 1997. As a patrol officer he became an instructor in the following courses: Defensive Tactics, Firearms, OC, Baton, Rapid Deployment, Taser and as a General Topics Instructor.
He was promoted to Sergeant in 2007. He has experience working in the department’s Support Services Section as the Accreditation Manager for both the CALEA and NY State programs. He successfully led his agency through a CALEA re-accreditation onsite in 2008, and NY State re-accreditation in the spring of 2010. Jim also assists with departmental training and scheduling.
He earned a BA in Sociology/Criminology from the State University of New York at Cortland and an MA in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
