Mr. Gerard Quinn is a Detective Sergeant with the Cranford Police Department in Union County, New Jersey. He is a sixteen year veteran of the department and is currently assigned as the supervisor of the Detective Bureau. He is a specialist in computer and Internet related crime, having been assigned as liaison to the Union County High Tech Task Force since 2001. Gerard also has experience in Patrol Operations, Grant Writing, Policy Review, Evidence Management, Background Investigations, Juvenile Investigations and Crime Prevention.
Since 2005, Gerard has been assigned to the ageny's Accreditation Team and was involved in the initial department accreditation in 2006 and the recent reaccreditation in 2009 (NJSCOP). He is trained as a mock assessor for the New Jersey state program. Since March 2010, Gerard has served on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Public Safety Accreditation Coalition as Assistant Vice President of the North Region.
Gerard holds a BA in Public Administration from Kean University and is currently anticipating earning his MPA in 2011. He is a PTC certified instructor at the John H. Stamler Police Academy and has guest lectured at Union County College, Kean University and Seton Hall University on the topics of cybercrime, violence against women, and Internet safety. Gerard is also certified as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic (MICP) and teaches First Responder to new police recruits.
