Mrs. Margaret Schmidt-Fuller
Trustee At Large

Margaret (Peggy) Schmidt-Fuller is currently a Captain for the Woodbridge Township Police Department, New Jersey.  Margaret began her career in Woodbridge Township as a police dispatcher in 1987.  She has been a police officer in Woodbridge Township since April 1989. In July of 1997 Margaret was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  In December of 2001, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  She was promoted to the rank of Captain in August 2006.

She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration from Kean College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.  In 2008, Margaret completed the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police 7th Session of the Police Executive Institute.  Margaret has completed the New Jersey Certified Public Manager Program and is a certified public manager.

Margaret has been directly involved in the CALEA accreditation process since 2001 when she assisted in the first re-accreditation preparation and on-site for Woodbridge Township Police Department.   Margaret was officially named the Accreditation Manager in December 2001.  She has since overseen and successfully completed two more re-accreditation on-sites (2004 and 2007).  She is a certified Master CALEA Accreditation Manager.  Margaret has been a certified CALEA Assessor since 2002 and has been on several CALEA on-site inspections teams across the country.

Margaret is one of the founding members of the New Jersey Public Safety Accreditation Coalition (NJPSAC).  She is currently trustee-at-large for the NJPSAC. She has been on many mock inspections throughout New Jersey and New York and has mentored other police departments in their effort to achieve both state and international accreditation.  Margaret is also an instructor for the NJPSAC and has instructed at the annual accreditation conference in Princeton, NJ and also at various one-day accreditation training seminars.

During her career, Margaret has worked as a certified 9-1-1 operator, patrol officer, in the traffic enforcement unit; as a Communications Sergeant; as a Radio Patrol Sergeant; as the Accreditation Manager; and served as Captain of the Radio Patrol Division.  Margaret currently heads the Professional Standards Division and oversees the Accreditation Unit, Training Unit, and Attendance System for the Police Department.  She also oversees the volunteer Domestic Violence Response Team, the 40-hour initial training and annual refresher training for the volunteers.

She is a trained instructor through the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Instructor Development Course and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.  Throughout Margaret’s career she has successfully completed training as a Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse instructor and oversees the in-service training for police officers on domestic violence.  She has been certified as a Drug Recognition Expert through the National Division of Highway Safety and as a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor.
